Spay / Neuter Education

Half-Way Home Animal Rescue are advocates of spaying and neutering pets.

Veterinarians note that spaying female dogs and cats reduces the incidence of mammary cancer, eliminates uterine and ovarian cancer risk and prevents pyometra - a potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus.

Neutering male animals protects them from prostatic hypertrophy and infections, as well as testicular cancer and certain types of hernias. Vets also note that many less desirable animal behaviors are usually reduced by spaying or neutering, including roaming and territorial aggression.

This is also the reasoning behind our orgaizations policy of spaying and neutering pets that are adopted from our group as well as why we require that adopters have their current pets spayed or neutered.

If you adopted from HWHAR and need to schedule an appointment for Spay/Neuter - Please email us at

info@hwhanimalrescue.com - Please place your pets name at time of adoption and the word Spay or Neuter in the Subject line.

Note you will need to confirm your date of adoption for assistance.

Thank you, Admin
